Investment Advice

Investment advice is the primary reason clients seek help from financial planners. Advice in this area can range from a simple review of an individual's 401(k) allocation, which would be on an hourly basis, to a complete fee-based asset allocation of all qualified (IRAs, 401(k)s, 403(b)s, TSPs, etc...), non-qualified (regular brokerage accounts), and college savings accounts.

There are three requirements for successful investing:

1) Knowledge of investment strategies and the financial markets.

2) Willingness to dedicate the time required to gain the knowledge necessary to design and implement an investment strategy and the discipline to regularly rebalance.

3) The motivation to do steps 1 and 2 on a consistent basis.

Even if you have mastered the three requirements above, there is one more matter that is difficult to control:

Investor behavior research consistently shows that most investors act irrationally with their investments, which typically means selling low in a panic or buying high when the markets are doing well. Most individual investment enthusiasts behave this way. The true cost of this behavior can be very high.

As a Registered Investment Advisory (RIA) firm, Gladwyn provides the three requirements listed above to insulate you from your investment emotions and will assist you with all your investment planning needs.

Gladwyn has chosen Fidelity Investments as the custodian for clients' retirement portfolios. Clients' college savings 529 accounts are held at American Funds.
